Pretty.Simple.Techniques

Today I have a sweet canvas piece to share with you.  Along with a couple of easy tips to follow using your Shimmerz.  I actually made this for my cousins newborn baby, I hope she likes it.

Shimmerz products used:

Coloringz in Pink Stiletto, Heidi Ho Blue and No Yoking
Spritz in Ruby and Mango Madness
Shimmerz in Magenta
Pearlz in Pretty in Pink

To create the backround I simply sprayed my mists and let them blend in to each other.  I then added some stamping and the cirlces.  To create the circles I took off the cap of my Spritz bottle and dabbed it into some Gesso and applied in to my canvas.  I also used the same technique with my Shimmerz pots.

I created the butterflies by adding a few layers.  I used 2 layers of paper butterflies, slightly different sizes and for my top layer I cut the butterfly shape from calico.  I adhered all three pieces together and then sprayed my mists on them, one colour down the middle and the other on the edges.  When the mist dries it turns the calico into a firmer texture and allows it to sit nicely.

I wanted this piece to be personal so adding in the baby's initial did just that.  I used my finger to apply gesso over the chipboard letter.  Added a little stamping and then with the mists, I took the lid off and flicked the colour onto the letter.  Simple easy and so effective.

Thankyou for taking the time to visit, hope you have a creative weekend :)

4 Cards in 4 Minutes!

Yep! You read that right!
4 cards in 4 minutes!!

Inspired by our new campaign,
I wanted to try my hand at an artistic, quick way to make cards.
It really doesn't get any easier than this. Grab a 4 blank, cardstock, postcards, 4 of
your favorite Shimmerz Paints, a few stamps, and some black ink.

Step 1: Stamp some graphic image onto the card.
Step 2: Stamp a sentiment onto the card.
Step 3: Ink up a perforator and run across the card making a random "x" shape.
Step 4: Using the nozzle, squirt some Shimmerz paint directly onto the stamped image,
then flick the nozzle hose to add an even more artistic element.
Step 5: Put it in an envelope, and send some cheer!!!

So easy, so fun!
xx Heidi

Shimmerz paints used:
Coloringz in Pink Stiletto
Vibez in Sunset Strip
Coloringz in No Yoking

Back to school!

This year, my son Alessandro began the primary school ... so many emotions ...
The teacher asked a lot of material to bring along: pencils, colors, glue, scissors, folder and several exercise-books. Every item must be  marked with a label to write the name and surname of the schoolboy on.
I involved my son to make them and together we created the plates with his favorite colors.

The materials: Coloringz, labels and pastels ...

 ... spray ...

... cut, cut ....

... a small finishing ...

... a touch of color ...

... and the labels are ready!

Products used.
Coloringz: No Yoking, Lime in da Coconut, Mandarin Mai Tai and Heidi-Ho-Blue.

Have a great day with creativity!

A Drip Here, a Drip ThereI

I love that with Shimmerz Paints, that I can create a wow effect with just a flick of a paintbrush, or a drip of Shimmerz with a medicine dropper. For this layout below "Brother" I did just that.
Using a color that highlighted the blue hue within my son's newborn cap, I simply sucked a small bit of Shimmer Blingz "December Sky" into my medicine dropper. I then dripped a puddle...
tipped my paper up, and let it drip down just slightly.
Then I did the same above, and tilted my paper again. And, that was all it took to create an amazing effect with Shimmerz paint!!
So simple, so perfect.
xx Heidi

(Thank you Swirlydoos Kit Club, for the awesome kit I used here with the paint.)

Colours at your fingertips.....

Hey there,
Lydell here with a recent page I did for The Color Room (Palette #116)
I Love doing colour challenges, especially with a bunch of Shimmerz Paints in my arsenal!
I can do every single palette easily with a mix of papers embellishments and my paints.  My paints always fill the colour 'holes' in my stash.  If I dont have it in papers....I certainly have it in paint!!!  And if I dont....you can mix colours and get what you want.
Heres the page.
I used a tiny dot stamp pressed into a spray of Sea Monkey Vibez
I also used the same spray to spray an alphabet stencil, subtly in the background.
I have used a lovely shade of yellow,  Chick-a-dee Spritz and sprayed that into an old leftover sheet of foam dots leaving nice circles on my page here and there.  I did the same with the licorice Vibez.
I have splats of Licorice Vibez splattered over the back ground.

I LOVE what you can do with a mix of paints and sprays.  And so very easily, with no mess at all.  I had NO clean up after this page.  I just wiped off the stamps and masks and the jobs done.

So if you are new to Shimmerz,  You must try it.  It adds something special to your pages and projects, and very easily.  And you have a resource here at your fingertips with the Shimmerz Blog and the VLog at your fingertips.  Loaded with ideas and educational videos for you to see Shimmerz in action.

Have a great day and get some creative play in somewhere today!!!

Back to basics.....

Hi all, I have a new layout to share with you today with a super easy, quick and effective background using Shimmerz.  Firstly here are the Shimmerz products I used to create this layout:

Vibez in Hot Fudge
Spritz in Truffle
Coloringz in Heidi Ho Blue
Shimmerz in Antique Lace
Enamelz in Gold Digger

I used a Mistable background with a resist pattern.  I gave the centre section of my layout a couple of sprays of Vibez.  Taking a straw I blew from the centre outwards to create the streak effect.  I turned the paper around and blew out at every angle.

I dabbed the centre section with a tissue to reveal the resist pattern.

I then did the same thing with the Coloringz.

Next I started to embellish and layer allowing the effect of the background to be seen from the top and bottom of the layout.

So there you go, something as simple as a straw can make your Shimmerz project standout.  Have a wonderful week xo

10 steps to an easy page.

Hi there.
Back again today with another Shimmerz Share.
This one is a nice easy Shimmerz page.

This one was one I had planned for another page. I sprayed the page with Vertigre Vibez.....a nice dark colour, which I then sprinkled heavily with Molten Metal Enamelz, and then tipped off the loose powder and heat set it, adding much more texture.......after I did this, it was just too much for the page I was planning, so I set it aside and went in a different direction for that page.

Come this layout, I decided now was the time to use the partially done page to record something I want to remember, seeing this will be my last bub.  It came together super easy and very fast.  (Love it when that happens!)  The first time I tried with this background I worked on it for ages before deciding the page had to go...it just wasn't working.

So here is what I did in 10 simple steps. (the colors I used are in brackets)

1. Splatter the page with my chosen colour (Vertigre Vibez)
2. Sprinkle the wet droplets with my chosen Enamelz (Molten Metal) and tip off the loose powder onto a folded sheet of scrap paper (which then makes it easy to tip back into the jar.)
3. Heat set the powder.
4.  Select a favourite text stamp and stamp into some Pearlz Paint (Esspresso) painted onto a craft sheet and stamp off a little, then stamp off the top and bottom edge for added texture.
5. Add a doiley
6. Add your photo
7. Coil some string and secure it in several places with dobs of wet glue (Helmar 450 Quick Dry).
8. Add your title and chosen word stickers
9. Add other bits and pieces to embellish
10. Add your journaling.

Nice and easy.

Hope you can fit in some 'playtime' and maybe follow these steps to your own easy page.
