Thankful- By Keren Tamir and Happy New Year

Happy New Year Shimmerz Fans!!

It is the last day of 2013 and since I'm up on the Shimmerz blog I wanted to create a page about
"THANKFULNESS"

This year has been amazing and I'm very thankful for everything!!
I'm so grateful for all the amazing opportunities I had, including being part of the Shimmerz family.

I am also thankful to G-d for my family, my health, my friends, my life, my art and for love, happiness, passion and dreams come true.

I've included those words all over my page to remember all the beautiful things I'm grateful for now and always!!!

Here are the Shimmerz products I used today:
Chikadee Spritz
Razzledazzle Berry Vibez
Pink Stiletto Vibez
Eggnogging vibez
Before Dawn Vibez

Dimensionz: Witchy poo

I sprayed the background in both Chikadee and RazzleDazzle Berry sprays.

As you can see on the picture below I used the Razzledazzle berry to spray the canvas flower. Then I colored the center with Pink Stiletto

The Big Thankful title was covered in Dimensionz witchy poo and the small words and swirls were painted with Before dawn black spray.

If you would like to purchase any of the products I used today please visit the Shimmerz Shop Here. If you mention my name during checkout you will receive a free sample of either Dimensionz, Dazzlerz or Texturez product.

December Guest Designer Alicia Redshaw- Week 5

Hi, my name is Alicia Redshaw and I am excited to be Guest Designing here at the Shimmerz Blog for the month of December.

For this my last post I have created an Easel Card that started out being another example of the Frugal Cards concept, until I got to the end and just had to use the featured flower which I had been hoarding for quite some time.

The Shimmerz products I have used are:

Spritz – Bamboo Leaf, Caribbean Sunset
Vibez – Jeni B Bleu
Shimmeringz – Bronzed Bombshell
Texturez – Brick Wall

This is my card:

I started by cutting my card layers and fussy-cutting lots of pretties out of the Prima Delight patterned papers.  I then applied the Texturez Brick Wall with a palette knife through the Doily template.  I love how the Texturez are the perfect consistency and quality for this kind of application as they look perfect even on intricate templates like this one.

Once I had finished my card I decided to do my favourite Shimmerz mist technique...flicking dots of multiple colours over the entire card.  I love the softness that can be created with this technique by choosing a combination of Shimmerz mists colours that exist elsewhere in the project, even if they are not the feature colour.

Thank you for stopping by the Shimmerz Blog and checking out my fifth and final project Guest Designing for December.

Have a wonderful day

December Guest Designer- Alicia Redshaw-Week 4

Hi, my name is Alicia Redshaw and I am excited to be Guest Designing here at the Shimmerz Blog for the month of December.

For this, my fourth post I have created a scrapbook layout using a photograph of Quentin and I at a Ball earlier this year.  As the Marquee gave a pink glow to the photograph on my iPhone I decided to go with a bold pink and purple colour scheme.  When it came to adding leaves behind the flower, I thought what the heck lets add my favourite colour – Aqua.  It sounds a bit sickly, however with the help of my stash of Shimmerz products I made a layout that I am really happy with and helps me forget how bad the photograph colour really is.
The Shimmerz products I have used are:

Vibez – Grape Escape
Colouringz – Pink Stilettos
Shimmerz – Royal Purple, Sugar Plum, Jilted Jade
Dimensionz – Pearly Gates

This is my layout that my hubby (Quentin) loves, and has followed the progress of intently:

I used the plastic tablecloth again with Vibez Grape Escape to create an almost all-over pattern.  By misting lightly in layers I was able to avoid the mist going under the tablecloth, and get a cleaner design that wasn’t too overpowering.

I couldn’t resist a few flicks of the Vibez Grape Escape and Coloringz Pink Stilettos for good measure on my background.

I have painted two coats of Shimmerz Royal Purple to accent the Resin butterfly and bring it into line with my colour scheme.

I wanted to give the wood leaf icons texture, which lead to some experimentation that could have gone drastically wrong.  I started with two thickish coats of Dimensionz Pearly Gates painted onto the leaves which I left to dry naturally.  I then coated them with a really thick layer of the Shimmerz Jilted Jade and got out my trusty heat tool.  By overheating the leaves the Shimmerz and Dimensionz puffed up which gave texture once pushed back down – doing this once they leaves have cooled is much better than burnt fingers!  I am really happy with my experiment and will definitely do it again.
To colour the Cotton Cord I used a sponge and the Shimmerz Jilted Jade.  I coated the cord gently twice to get a better coverage.
Some of the stamped designs have been detailed with the Shimmerz Sugar Plum and Royal Purple using a fine paintbrush.  A good quality permanent ink like Memento allows you to paint freely without altering the beautiful tones of the Shimmerz.

Other touches with the Shimmerz are the centre of the flower (Sugar Plum), the edge of the photograph (Jilted Jade), the white metal clock (Sugar Plum) and the “love” word sticker (Jilted Jade).  All of this was just applied with my fingers.

Thank you for stopping by the Shimmerz Blog and checking out my fourth project Guest Designing for December.

Have a wonderful day.

Holiday Ornaments and Shimmerz

Hello Shimmerz Fans! I love it when I go to a dollar store and find a great treasure to alter! I found this metal bird house for $2…well I just had to buy it and make a Christmas decoration out of it!

The pinecones are all real and I have painted on some Tidy Widy Texturez to make is look like snow on them.

For the roof I first added some gel medium to it and after that dried I used a mask and added some Gold Mine Texturez and Spun Sugar Dazzlerz. The snowflake chippys are all finished with Spun Sugar Dazzlerz.

After I assembled everything I finished everything off with some dabs of Tidy Widy Texturez and Goldie Lox Shimmeringz! I wish I had taken a photo before I started to show you how easy it is to transform those treasures into holiday ornaments

It's Beginning to Feel Alot Like Christmas!!!

Hello!  Stacey back again with you today.  I have another Christmas project to share with you.  This time using non-traditional colours......well they are traditional for me, these are the colours of my Christmas tree decorations :)

Shimmerz products used:

Spritz in 4 leaf Clover and Rock-a-fella Blue
Vibez in Holly Jolly
Dimensionz in Green Thumb
Dazzlerz in Spun Sugar
Blingz in Hi Ho Silver
Shimmerz in Ultra Marine

Here is my layout:

"It's Beginning to Feel A lot Like Christmas"

Don't forget to click on the images for a closer look :)

I used a Prima mask here, sprayed the Rock-a-fella Blue Spritz.  I wanted the bricks to pop out more so I just went back over the Spritz (after it had dried) with the stencil and modelling paste.

I sprayed the accent with the Spritz to change the colour of it to match the rest of the layout.

Dimensionz Green Thumb dots :)

I used some 2 Crafty chipboard pieces which I covered in Dazzlerz Sugar Spun and then traced my finger on the legs of the reindeer with the Hi Ho Silver Blingz.

This will be my last post here for the year.  I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year.  I have a very busy few weeks ahead!!!

Enjoy xoxo

December Guest Designer Alicia Redshaw- Week 3

Hi, my name is Alicia Redshaw and I am excited to be Guest Designing here at the Shimmerz Blog for the month of December.

For this post I have created a simple card based on the concept of being Frugal, and getting the most out of patterned paper and mixed media.
My card is made with the Prima “The Optimist” range, which is very hard to obtain - causing the need to be Frugal!

The Shimmerz products I have used are:

Colouringz – Valentino
Shimmeringz - Baby’s Breath
Dimensionz - Pearly Gates

This is my card:

I have misted through some plastic tablecloth for the white background of my card, and creating in a waste-not-want-not mode I stamped the tablecloth onto some card for later use.

Other than the Shimmerz products above, all I have used to create this card is less than half a sheet of “The Optimist” patterned paper (all that I could get my hands on), half a sheet of white cardstock and a wooden butterfly icon.  It is the Shimmerz products that have made these few things sing.

To embellish the wooden butterfly icon I have first coated it in Dimensionz Pearly Gates, and then misted it with Coloringz Valentino and then Shimmeringz Baby’s Breath whilst it was wet so that the texture is uneven.

Once I was finished with the creation of my card I wanted it all to shimmer so I over-sprayed everything with the Shimmeringz Baby’s Breath.  I love how changing the speed and pressure on the nozzle creates an uneven mist, so there is texture to the pearly sheen of the entire card.

As an added bonus the over-spraying of the entire card with the Shimmeringz Baby’s Breath has caused the fussy-cut flowers to curl at the edges.

Thank you for stopping by the Shimmerz Blog and checking out my third project Guest Designing for December.

Have a wonderful day.
